Smash Bear Publishing’s latest charity fundraiser is in aid of PAL Humanity, and it is an absolutely adorable little book of mini-stories of hope and optimism. It’s a slim little volume with gorgeous pattern artwork on the cover, and the stories inside are just a delight. They run from high fantasy to urban fantasy to even a touch of horror, and they each take only a couple of minutes to read – ideal if you’re feeling down and just need a quick little pick-me-up, or a palette cleanser between heavier novels, perhaps, if you’re a horror nut like me!
My favourites are Strange Alchemies of Earth and Sky by Satyros Phil Brucato, which has the feel of a piece of long-lost faerie folklore; Blood Ties by Adam Bassett, which is a tale of familial loss turned into something hopeful; and Another Moment by Tori Oliveira, which is a spooky ghost story with a lovely twist.
Blooms of Dawn is available as a physical book on Amazon for a limited time, after which it will remain available as an ebook, and profits go to PAL Humanity.
